Senior Investigator Mike Walters from the Pearl Police Department in Mississippi, was shot and killed as he and other detectives  attempted to serve warrants on a man in an apartment complex on Colony Park  Drive at approximately 11:15 am.

Deputy Sheriff Brian Hayden 47 years old,was killed when his patrol truck collided with  another patrol car from on US Highway 70 as the two responded to a shots fired  call involving a third officer.

Police Officer Max Dorley was killed when his patrol car struck a utility pole  on Admiral Street, near Huxley Avenue, as he responded to a disturbance call at  approximately 9:20 am.

Police Chief Michael Maloney was shot and killed while serving a drug-related  search warrant with officers from the Attorney General’s Drug Task Force shortly  after 6:00 p.m. A subject in the home opened fire with a rifle, killing Chief  Maloney and wounding four other officers.

Deputy Sheriff Robert Paris, 53 years old was shot and killed while he and another deputy were  serving an eviction notice at the Whispering Woods apartment complex on Chrysler  Drive in Modesto.
