Crown Point Indiana: Corrections Officer Britney Muex, 25 years old and a four year Department member of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver  at the intersection of 93rd Avenue and Main Street in Crown Point at  approximately 7:00 pm.

Deputy Sheriff Barbara Pill, 52 years old was shot and killed after stopping a vehicle near  the intersection of John Rodes Boulevard and Estates Lane, in Melbourne, shortly  before 11:15 am.

“It’s a bad day,” said Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste. “It’s a terrible thing to receive a phone call that lets you know that one of your people have been injured in the line of duty. To have that compounded by the loss of that trooper, it’s a bad day.”
